I want to unite our great party to beat Reform for good and deliver the change that as members we all want to see.
My journey took me from a tough council street in the northeast of England right the way to the Cabinet – all because of a Labour government.
I came into politics to change the lives of working people – and in government that’s exactly what I’ve been doing.
That's why I delivered new free breakfast clubs, school based nurseries, reviving the best of Sure Start for the next generation. Taking children across the UK out of poverty - giving every single child the start to life they deserve. All of this in the first year of a Labour government.
We cannot deliver change without our membership and we cannot deliver change without the wider movement.
I will be a voice for our movement right at the heart of government. Listening to our membership, uniting the wider movement, so we can deliver as a Labour government together.
I will never lose sight of the country, the future, that we want our movement to build.
I want to make sure we get on with it – to win again, to deliver more, looking forward and outward, to change Britain for good.
